4IOE INTRODUCTION
Four Inches Of Ego [henceforth referred to as 4IOE] contains the work of Thomas Knauer.
The primary emphasis of my work as of late has been writing. You can keep up with my writing on my blog. I try to write pretty much every day — sometimes it's art or politics, other times it might be my fascination with my toes — though occassionally the world overwhelms me and I take a bit of time off. I’d like to believe I am at least a half-decent writer, so I’d suggest giving it a read.
Otherwise, this site is a shifting compendium of my work as an artist/designer. If you are expecting to see a bundle of logos I’ve done for multinational corporations, you are in the wrong place. Most people feel more comfortable when I call myself a media artist; I am currently a little too uncertain about the categories to bother with one. I make work; I would like to think it has some academic value, some artistic value, and ideally some cultural value. Sometimes I do well, sometimes less so; but I suppose that is the nature of speaking.

After a bit of a hiatus I am
once again posting to My Four Inches Of The World
[I know there were several fruitless promises to
return, but I mean it this time]. Now that I have
arrived in Edinburgh -- the one in Scotland -- I
shall be making every effort to return to my previously
frequent blog activity of posting new work, commentaries
and criticism, images, and new fictions. Thus, dear
