W BUSH PROPAGANDA POSTERS
This project originated in the spring
and summer before the 2004 presidential election. Unfortunately
these posters are as relevant now [if not more so] as
they were then. Most of these posters were designed then,
though some are more recent and others have been updated,
modified and/or altered to fit the current political
conditions.
This project is also an experiment
in taking political hyperbole to its extreme. Each poster
started from a kernel of truth [or at least news or a
policy stance that the bush administration has taken]
that was then stretched to an extreme position. Thus
propaganda, but good propaganda, or at least propaganda
that doesn't rely on cramming as many American
flags,
bald eagles and fruited plains as possible. Furthermore,
this project finally disproves the long-held belief that
all political posters must have really [and I mean really,
really] bad typography.
So... All of these posters are black & white
and are 11"x17", so they are easy and cheap
to reproduce. Go ahead and print out hundreds of these
and put them up everywhere. Email them to your friends
[or enemies]. In fact, take the hint and start making
your own, as long as they are smart, well designed and
don't rely on above mentioned American flags, bald eagles
and fruited plains.
